Free Solo Rock Climbing

A Creative Project on Free Solo Rock Climbing with Will Stanhope in Squamish, BC, Canada.

“Free solo rock climbing is climbing walls without ropes.” Will Stanhope is a professional climber and enjoys both free soloing and climbing with ropes. Based in Squamish, BC, Canada, Will travels regularly around the world to climb. Will explains how free soloing is not about pushing his abilities to their limits, but about climbing within your means to enjoy the freedom on the rock.

This video showcases Will free solo climbing on The Stawamus Chief, affectionately known to locals as ‘The Chief’. The Chief wall is 1,000 ft to the valley floor. The climb follows a crack splitting a wall on the North face of the Chief, and requires a number of technical maneuvers at the top. The climb is ranked a 10c in rock climbing ratings
