Squamish Free Solo Rock Climbing

We recently took the drone to new heights capturing Will Stanhope, a local free solo rock climber in Squamish, BC. On our first day we captured Will ascending a unique technical climb in Murin Park called Sentry Box. This is a very challenging climb that Will made look very easy. server dns information . domain list Flying the drone to capture Will was also quite technical as we had various tree obstacles to avoiding while focusing on keeping Will in the frame.

The next day trip was more ambitious. We hiked up the chief with the drone and camera equipment. Many people on the way up thought we were base jumping with the amount of gear we had. If things went  wrong I guess we would be… Will did his pre climb inspections on High Planes Drifter, a climb at the apex of the north wall of the Chief. The view was mind blowing. We positioned ourselves on a ridge facing the climb  with a 1000 foot drop between us. We flew the drone over and captured Will making the ascent. Will’s only request before the flight was “Please don’t hit me. If you do I’ll fall and die.” We will be releasing this footage with a video on the climbing experience in Squamish in 2015.
